Hi Ariella,

Good to talk to you after so many years.
I am assuming I will see you at the kenes.

At a certain period of my life (chelav pikoud veyamaout at kours hovlim) Oved was with Momo probably my closest friend.
The 3 of us lived together in the same room for 4 months and we were older than the freshmen (vatikei zahal),
On top of that both Oved and I had our parents living abroad. I was a hayal boded and his parents were serving in Cyprus at that time.
We stayed friends during the service and the last time I saw him was on milouyim probably just before he left the navy.

He was a good thinker and he always had a sharp brain. He knew that if he wanted he could have become the next mefaked hel hayam.
But he did not want to; he was too much against the establishment, like a free bird.
He could not take accept the square system of the army and this is probably why he went into the academics and succeeded there beyond every expectation.

The only thing I regret is that he somehow broke the ties with me. He never tried to contact me.
Even at the end. I learned only much later about his sickness, when he was not with us anymore.

I probably have some nice pictures in my old albums.
I will bring them to the Kenes.

Looking forward to seeing you.

Mickey Karmon
